Rubber sidewalks?

Whenever you are walking on a sidewalk you will sometimes notice that the sidewalk is broken because a tree root has grown underneath it.
This is a very common problem and often makes sidewalks unsafe as there are unexpected bumps and edges.
Also fixing these problems with new concrete sidewalks damages the tree root. I was recently watching the news when I picked up something along the lines of a rubber sidewalk.
It is being used in Calgary to address this particular issue. The rubber makes it so that the three roots can’t break the sidewalk.
Also making a sidewalk with rubber does not harm the tree roots as the roots can still stretch and expand underneath.

Also they look very similar to normal sidewalks. The only difference is that the rubber sidewalks are a bit softer.
Which honestly is probably a plus point for some people. Also the rubber sidewalks also cost less!
Now thinking about it further they can also make the sidewalk from waste materials like tires from cars or other rubber materials.
This could allow a lot of waste to be recycled which can be great for the environment!
