During my internship at the City of Surrey Engineering, I had the chance to work on the BRT!
Of Course, I didn't have the knowledge to design anything for BRT on Civil 3D as I am not a licensed engineer yet.
However, I had the chance to help the city of Surrey engineers look at and collect drawings that will be required for the project.
I was basically collecting a bunch of As-Built drawings of drainage, pipes, and wiring.
Some of the drawings made sense but some did not. Honestly, I still want to learn more about the drawings.
Anyway, I will explain what BRT even is. BRT stands for Bus Rapid Transit; it is basically an extremely efficient and reliable public Transit.
It will have dedicated bus lanes which the buses will be able to travel on which would dramatically reduce wait and travel times even during rush hours.
The BRT should look something like this once it is done.
The BRT is already used in some parts of the country such as Calgary, and Brampton. BRT helps these major cities
so it will likely bring some positive outcomes to a major city like Surrey. At least once it is in action I will remember that I helped on this amazing project!
